The facility was designed with our Southwest Washington weather in mind, from the covered round pen adjoining our 150x80 indoor arena, the dirt ¾ mile training track, the covered wash racks and covered hotwalkers. We train horses six days a week, the covered training areas allow us to train year-round without prohibiting us from inclement weather.

Stalls: The 12x12 Tongue and Grove stalls with rubber mat floors bedded in fresh shavings, are cleaned and sanitized daily. The stalls are designed to maximize horse safety and comfort.

Barn: Our barns were design with cross ventilation to have the best air flow for the horse to breath. All walkways are covered in rubber mats to add cushion and safety for the horse.

Paddocks: Paddocks are fenced with 6’ tall V-Mesh fencing with a wooden top rail. Each paddock has a 20’ lane in between each other so that horses cannot reach each other over the fence.

Shavings: Our shavings are all locally sourced and stored in their own shed to limit dust in the main barn areas.

Scales: Our scales allow us to weigh and monitor each horses weight. Tracking a horse’s weight gain or loss allows us to adjust the horse’s feed and nutrition as necessary. Additionally, scales monitor recovery rates, effectiveness of treatments, and ensure healthy foal growth rate.

¾ Mile Dirt Training Track

Keeping your race horse in great condition is a 7 days a week job and one of the many training techniques used at Scatter Creek Training Facility is our three quarter mile dirt training track. We are pleased to be one of the few facilities that have enough space to train your horse on a track of this size.

Round Pen For Breaking

A well broke horse is less likely to injure itself and those around him. The process begins with a horse in a small round enclosed area filled with sand and dirt. At Scatter Creek Training Facility we realize that a horse that has used our round pen for breaking is well prepared for later forms of training.

Eurociser

The Eurociser at Scatter Creek Training center incorporates natural movement of the horse in exercise sessions. Our expert trainers know that a well-conditioned horse performs better, behaves better, and is less prone to injury, and that is why we incorporate using the Eurociser in our training schedule.

4 Horse Starting Gate

One of the keys to a great race is coming out of the gates. When doing starting gate training, the aim is to ensure that the racehorses move towards and into the gates, calmly and unafraid. The trainers and exercise riders at Scatter Creek Training Facility use the 4 horse starting gate at our facility. They ensure that while standing in the stalls, racehorses are still and quiet, so as not to cause injury to themselves or to their riders. All this is accomplished by patience, reassurance and trust.

2 Covered Hot Walkers

Hot walkers are vital pieces of equipment for equine training. Hot walkers are used to condition horses by walking them. Scatter Creek Training Facility uses our Covered Hot Walkers to warm up and cool down horses before and after exercise.
